I've been a client at North Community for almost 10 years now. I have gone through 4 counselors as they come and go (some leave, some are promoted) and only had 1 that I wasn't thrilled about. They have been accommodating at every turn. If you are without insurance or on public insurance, they will work with you to make sure you can get the help you need without going broke. Like Greg, I am highly suspicious of the 1-star ratings.

I do not understand why anybody would give North Community Counseling Centers a bad review! I have used North Community on and off for over 14 years. The off times where when I was no longer residing in Columbus. I am happy to be back using them again. I have seen several providers in this practice over the years and have found each and every one of them to be kind and caring people who genuinely want to do all they can to provide a good experience. I would never go and see anybody else if you paid me to. Yes the facility is in an old house, does that make the staff bad or somehow less qualified? I would still go there if they were housed in a trailer! The point is, I go there for counseling and to see the Doctor. I do not go to look at the nice decor! I have used other facilities that were not located in "old houses", you know the better ones always have color coordinated decor and window treatments. The really really good ones have a water fountain or other novelty gizmo that demonstrates a higher level of care. Lets be honest, everyone knows that if a counseling center is located in an old converted house, its terrible right? I have always received a higher and more genuine level of care from North Community than from any other counseling center or office. They may not be located in the affluent, beautiful or popular area of town but I would take North Community any day over your designer, color coordinated office. The people who work at North Community are not there to look at the decor or bask in the glory of their surroundings. They are there because they care and want to make a difference. They are quite capable of getting a job at one of the "beautiful" therapists, but chose to work there so they can do what they got into counseling for and help people. I also never realized that employing someone who is just out of training was a capital offense, I mean how dare they give someone a job and train them. Even more so, the sheer audacity of someone wanting to learn in the trenches to gain experience under the guidance of a more seasoned therapist. Long story short and the moral of the story is, being located in an old house does not dictate the quality of care, employing someone who is just starting out does not make it a terrible place and finally, if you look for the bad, you will find it every time and, If you always do what you have always done. You will always get what you have always got.
